Anthony Fasano’s Bocce Bash Supports Military Family
On Saturday, July 13, 2013, Kansas Chiefs tight end and Verona, NJ native, Anthony Fasano hosted the 5th Annual Anthony Fasano Foundation Bocce Bash at Verona Park in Verona, NJ. The event benefits “Rebuilding Together: Veterans Housing.”
Rebuilding Together is a nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities. The organization’s national initiative “Veterans Housing” was created to meet the growing needs of veterans from past and present wars. They provide home repair services for retired and active service members by increasing the home’s accessibility, enabling veterans to live independently and safely in their own homes. Rebuilding Together identified a specific military veteran in New Jersey, Ed Abate, whose home was damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
The Abate family home was heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy on October 29th. They have been struggling to make home repairs. The flood water was salty and corrosive so the replacement of the electrical system and furnace are extremely important. The funds raised by the Bocce Bash went directly to assist the Abate family who were on hand to participate and celebrate the event.
In July of 2012 the Anthony Fasano Foundation along with dozens of volunteer workers and contractors partnered with Essex County Executive, Joseph N. DiVincenzo to build four brand new bocce courts in Verona Park, which will be the permanent home to the Annual Bocce Bash.
